INSL-X STIX Waterborne Bonding Interior/Exterior Primer (SXA-110)

USE
  • For priming challenging, interior or exterior surfaces, including PVC, vinyl, plastic, glass, tile, glazed block, glossy paints, pre-coated siding, fibreglass, galvanized metals
  • It is also ideal for plaster, drywall, and wood substrates in commercial, institutional, and residential applications
  • Do not use below grade or where continuous water contact is common
  • Do not use over polyethylene, polypropylene, or Kynar
  • Use only as a spot primer on exterior wood
COVERAGE
  • Quart (946 millilitres)- One coat of approximately 100 square feet of wall space
  • Gallon (3.79 litres)- One coat of approximately 400 square feet of wall space

SURFACE PREP
  • SEE PRODUCT DATA SHEET FOR COMPLETE PREPARATION AND APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
  • Wash surface with a strong detergent and stiff brush or by power washing. Rinse and allow to dry
  • Use lacquer thinner or xylene to remove grease and oil
  • Reduce the gloss by sanding and remove dust
  • Seal wood knots with pure shellac prior to applying full coat of primer
  • Remove old caulk before priming and re-caulk edges and paint breaks after priming
  • Remove mildew
  • Prime ferrous metals with a rust inhibitive primer prior to application of this primer
APPLICATION
  • Use in a well-ventilated area
  • Product can be applied by nylon/polyester brush, synthetic roller cover, pad applicator, or airless spray
  • Top coat required for exterior durability
  • For questionable substrates, try a small area for adhesion
  • Try a test area for top coat compatibility
  • Apply when air, surface, and product temperature are above 1.7°C (35°F)
  • Do not apply in direct sunlight or on a hot surface
  • Avoid rain, moisture, or high humidity for the first 24 hours of curing

  • Keep container closed when not in use
  • Keep out of reach of children
  • It is recommended that anyone who is applying the product or present during application of this product, especially those who are asthmatic, follow the manufacturer's safety precautions
  • It is recommended that pregnant women are not present when product is being applied and drying
DRYING
  • Tack free in 30 minutes
  • For multiple-coat application, allow a 3-4-hour dry time between coats
  • Top coat with two component paint will be dry in 24 hours
  • Fully cures in 7-10 days
  • Humidity and temperature may prolong dry, recoat, and cure times
CLEAN UP & STORAGE
  • Clean brushes, rollers, and other equipment with warm, soapy water immediately after use. If dry, clean with lacquer thinner
  • In case of spillage, absorb with inert material and dispose of in accordance with local regulations
  • Wash thoroughly after handling
  • When storing, tightly close container and store upside down
  • Store in a well-ventilated area
  • Do not store near heat, sparks, open flame, or other sources of ignition
  • Protect from freezing
  • Use completely or dispose of properly
