Sheen (or shine) is a very important part of how a colour looks in a space and should be considered when choosing a colour. It is the measure of how much light reflects off of a surface. Sheen can affect the tone or hue of a colour, can make a room look brighter, as well as make a room look larger. Sheen can also sometimes be related to durability; for most paints a higher sheen results in a more durable finish. Lower sheens tend to hide imperfections better where as higher sheens tend to show more imperfections.
The brief video below explains sheens, the common uses for each sheen, and how they may affect colours.
