Benjamin Moore Stays Clear Interior Acrylic Polyurethane Varnish

USE

• Commercial and residential use
• A premium quality product that combines the attributes of acrylic and polyurethane resin to produce a durable clear finish that dries quickly with very little odour
• Provides excellent resistance to damage caused by abrasion, household chemicals and water, alcohol or food stains
• For use on new or previously painted, stained, or varnished interior wood surfaces, including floors
• May also be used as a protective clear coat over decorative faux finishes on any substrate
• Flat (F425) is not recommended for floors
• High gloss (F422) and Low Lustre (F423) has excellent scratch and stain resistance

COVERAGE

• Quart (946 millilitres)- One coat of approximately 100 square feet of wall space
• Gallon (3.79 litres)- One coat of approximately 400 square feet of wall space

• *Coverage may vary depending on the type, age, and texture of substrate as well as the application method*

SURFACE PREP

• Surfaces to be finished must be free of wax, dirt, grease, dust, and other contaminants
• Glossy surfaces must be dulled
• Do not use steel wool
• Do not apply over sanding sealers or lacquers that contain stearates
• Sand wood along the grain with fine sandpaper and remove dust with tack rags or a vacuum cleaner prior to finishing

APPLICATION

• Use in a well-ventilated area
  
• Stir thoroughly before use but do not shake
• Apply with a synthetic bristle brush, short nap roller, or pad along the grain of the wood in thin, even coats
• Keep a wet-edge during application and avoid working back into partially dry areas
• This product can also be sprayed
• Product first appears milky upon application, but dries to a clear finish
• At least 2 coats are recommended over previously finished surfaces; three coats are suggested on new or unfinished wood
• Sand lightly with fine sandpaper between coats to ensure a smooth finish
• Do not use steel wool
• When applying over a painted surface, test a small area before finishing the entire surface to ensure desired effect is achieved

• Keep container closed when not in use
• Keep out of reach of children
• It is recommended that anyone who is applying the product or present during application of this product, especially those who are asthmatic, follow the manufacturer's safety precautions
• It is recommended that pregnant women are not present when product is being applied and drying
  

DRYING

• Dries to touch in 1 hour
• May be recoated in 2-3 hours; high humidity, cooler temperatures, and thickness of application may prolong drying times
• Do not apply when surface and air temperatures are below 10°C (50°F) or if high humidity conditions exist
• Optimal conditions are 15.6°C to 26.7°C (60°F to 80°F) and 30% to 60% relative humidity

CLEAN UP & STORAGE

• Clean equipment immediately with warm, soapy water
• Spray equipment should be given a final rinse with mineral spirits to prevent rusting
• In case of spillage, absorb with inert material and dispose of in accordance with local regulations
• Wash thoroughly after handling
  
• When storing, tightly close container and store upside down
• Store in a well-ventilated area
• Do not store near heat, sparks, open flame, or other sources of ignition
• Protect from freezing
  
• Use completely or dispose of properly
