Benjamin Moore Element Guard Exterior Paint

USE
  • A premium exterior 100% acrylic paint recommended for wood, hardboard, vinyl and aluminum siding, shingles, unglazed brick, concrete, stucco, cinder block, and primed metal
  • do not paint vinyl with any colour darker than the original colour or having a Light Reflective Value (LRV) of less than 55 (unless it is in the Benjamin Moore approved Colours for Vinyl palette)
COVERAGE
  • Quart (946 millilitres)- One coat of approximately 100 square feet of wall space
  • Gallon (3.79 litres)- One coat of approximately 400 square feet of wall space
  • *Coverage may vary depending on the surface porosity and texture*
SURFACE PREP
  • All surfaces, including eaves and overhangs, must be clean and mildew free
  • Dull glossy areas
  • Remove chalking, loose, or scaling paint
PRIMING
  • Primer can be used when there is a significant colour change, new drywall, or painting over oil paint
  • Ask about special purpose primers for specific surfaces or if the surface to be painted is water stained, smoke damaged, extremely chalky, very slick, or tannin rich
  • Spot prime stained areas, nail holes, and bare spots
  • Prime before caulking and re-prime over caulked areas before applying finish coat
  • Tannin rich woods like cedar and redwood may require a second coat of primer
APPLICATION
  • Use in a well-ventilated area
  • Use product when surface temperature is above 1.7°C (35°F)
  • Stir well before use; apply 2 coats
  • May be applied by brush, roller, or spray
  • Do not paint vinyl siding or trim darker than the original colour
  • Keep container closed when not in use
  • Keep out of reach of children
  • It is recommended that anyone who is applying the product or present during application of this product, especially those who are asthmatic, follow the manufacturer's safety precautions
  • It is recommended that pregnant women are not present when product is being applied and drying
DRYING
  • Dries to touch in 1 hour
  • Can be recoated after 4 hours
  • Humidity and temperature may prolong dry, recoat, and cure times
CLEAN UP & STORAGE
  • Use soap and warm water; wash thoroughly after handling
  • In case of spillage, absorb with inert material and dispose of in accordance with local regulations
  • When storing, tightly close container and store upside down
  • Store in a well-ventilated area
  • Do not store near heat, sparks, open flame, or other sources of ignition
  • Protect from freezing
  • Use completely or dispose of properly
